OC Restaurant Movers and Shakers: Cafe Beau Soleil, Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen And More!

Cafe Beau Soleil announces second location.
Seen flipping omelets during Breakfast in the Barn for Greg and sneaking into Manassero Farms early Saturday morning to collect herbs for his pumpkin soup, Chef Pascal Gimenez (Pascal Beau Soleil, as Chef Yvon Goetz referenced in passing) announced plans to build out at Huntington Beach’s Pacific City— specifically as one of the final tenants in Lot 579. It will be called Beau Soleil Kitchen, and his menu is forthcoming. You can bet it’ll be similar in nature to his existing French cafe in Fashion Island.

Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen/Tustin: Update
At a Planning Commission meeting on October 25, expansion of the future site of Gabbi’s at 215-217 El Camino Real (a former chiropractic office) was approved to include a patio to seat 28. Plus, permission to sell alcohol with a full liquor license, as well as an additional 20 parking spaces were allocated to the property. The finished product will be over 7,000 square feet, with 145 seats indoors.

Duo of concepts coming from Jinny’s Pizzeria co-founder, Nathaniel Nguyen.
Maybe you know him from The Prince and The Pantry. Perhaps it’s from Paloma’s Paletas. Nowadays, you’ve seen his spin on pizza (meatball and spaghetti, anyone?) inside 4th Street Market. Nathaniel Nguyen is now teaming with Matt Baumgartner to launch Milk Man and Rooster Republic. Old fashioned ice cream and Southern fried chicken sound like grand cheat day eats. They’ll be located inside McFadden Public Market, located at 515 North Main Street in Santa Ana. Interviews for all positions will be held at this address on Wednesday (November 2) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Haven’s Chef Brady transfers to a ranch.
It’s actually The RANCH, but semantics. Chef Craig Brady left as Chef de Cuisine at Haven Gastropub in Old Towne Orange. On the ground floor of (one of) Andrew Edwards’ Extron Electronics buildings, he’s now the Executive Sous Chef at this highly-regarded, Anaheim establishment. Craig’s teammates include the brothers Rossi, a.k.a. Michael and David.

Second Tempo Urban Kitchen location gains Fullerton chef.
A reader emailed us this week to ask “WHY?!” Cody Storts departed from Grits Fullerton. While he resurfaced this week at the recently opened site of Tempo Urban Kitchen, Cody did confirm that, “I was not fired at all.” Congrats on the move!
