OC Grub Guide For June 9-15: Beer, Brekkie And Hummus!

OC Brewers Guild Festival – Fullerton

The first annual anything is a combination of both good and bad excitement, as you never know how things will turn out. But if we’re talking beer, our bet is that the good outweighs the bad. Find out Saturday on the grounds of Fullerton Arboretum. Your entry includes unlimited food offerings to pair with over 50 beers, also with unlimited tastings. Catch a discussion panel by local brewers or find a shady spot to call your own. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m.

Santa Ana Street Breakfast
If you enjoy meeting new people and chowing on pancakes or chilaquiles, this Sunday is your jam. Make it out to Downtown Santa Ana between 9 a.m. and noon for this $5 community meal. We hear the pancakes are brought to you by Blackmarket Bakery on Broadway (in conjunction with Valley High School’s High School Inc. Culinary Team), and those chilaquiles are by way of Chef Richard Espinachio of The Robbin’s Nest. Afterwards, check out the farmers’ market or catch a flick at Frida Cinema. Then take a nap— you’ve earned it.

Class: Packing a Seasonal Lunch – San Juan Capistrano
Former On the Line subject Kerri Cacciata is back in The Ecology Center’s kitchen. This time around, she’s showing folks how the humble chickpea can change the way you brown bag. Make dishes such as sprouted falafel and Greek garbanzo salad. Afterwards, gather round for a family meal. Planning ahead, saving money and supporting local are a few of the ways you’ll benefit from this class. The learning starts this Sunday at 11 a.m.

SHOW: The Supper Club – Newport Beach
While this event isn’t for a couple of weeks, the previous one we attended sold out. A pop-up burlesque show, their theme changes monthly. On June 24, hold on to your purses and wallets as Gypsies and Thieves take over Campus Jax restaurant. Dine on tapas and their full bar while performers dance, play and amaze with entertaining personalities. All the details can be found over here. And when you wonder whether it’s hot inside or just you, it’s both.

Presale: Grits Fullerton Anniversary Beer Dinner with Golden Road Brewing
Friday the 24th is one hot night, as the gang over at Grits celebrates one year in Fullerton. And who better to collaborate with than OG brewmaster Victor Novak; they’ve got him crafting beers specifically for this dinner. With a theme called The Dirty South, expect some down home eats from this kitchen. Since past beer dinners tend to sell out, we snagged a presale link for our loyal Forkers. Use it wisely.
