OC Grub Guide For 10/20-10/26:What's the Time? It's Time To Veg Out!

From fundraising to meatless meals. From red to gray. You'll find a mixed bag of activities for the next week. Get out and enjoy the heatwave coming up before it really starts to feel like fall. Where do we even start?

Jaime's Night at Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen – Brea
If you're headed north tonight, stop by Cha Cha's and drink for a good cause. You'll find live entertainment and dining specials all night to raise money for Jaime “The Butcher”. Diagnosed with cancer, proceeds from tonight's event will go to Jaime and help pay for expenses during his tough time.

The Gray Event – Corona del Mar
While most fundraisers benefit people, this Sunday's dinner is to help Save Elephant Foundation, a charity close to Chef Pascal Olhats. The evening kicks off with a music and dance-filled reception, then moves on to dinner. Cathy Thomas will also be conducting a live cooking demo with Olhats. There is individual pricing for reception and the dinner add-on. Learn more about the charity and this event on their website.

Day of the Red at Chapter One: the modern local – Santa Ana
A multi-course celebration with Ritual Brewing, join Chef Jason as he pairs Extra Red Ale Nitro with duck confit and Extra Red Mandarin with warm bacon vinaigrette over grilled asparagus. Fifty bucks for five courses and beer pairings isn't a bad way to spend hump day. Give 'em a call to secure your spot for the 26th; dinner begins at 7 p.m.

$5 Chicken and waffle special at Macallan's – Sundays in October
Get in the brunch spirit this month and visit Macallan's Irish Pub in Brea for one heck of a deal. 48-hour buttermilk-marinated, free range chicken is fried to perfection and paired with one happy waffle. And it's only $5. For reals! Get there early so you've got less of a wait.

Coming Soon: SoCal Vegfest October 29 and 30 – Costa Mesa
Cooking demos, a cupcake competition and lots of exhibitors make up next week's meatless festival celebrating healthy eating and conscious living. Take advantage of the free admission and parking at Orange Coast College. And be sure to say “Hi!” to our friends at Falasophy. Check out their website for additional information.
