More Than 1,000 People Line Up For The Ramen Burger In Torrance

The big food story in Southern California this weekend was the West-Coast debut of Keizo Shimamoto's Ramen Burger. If you're just tuning in, no, it's not a restaurant; it's simply what it sounds like: a burger that's sandwiched between two grilled hockey-pucks of ramen.

The blogger introduced it at an event called Smorgasburg in the East Coast several months ago and it promptly went viral. This past Saturday, he brought 500 of his creation to the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Torrance, and guess how many people showed up? About 1,200 according to a report by the LA Times.

Meanwhile, Eater reports that a San Diego restaurant has created a ramen burger of its own.

It's your move OC ramen shops. The next cronut-like arms race has begun.
