Minamoto Kitchoan, Japanese Sweet Shop, To Open in Fashion Island

Minamoto Kitchoan is one of the more popular wagashi chains in Japan. What's wagashi? It's traditional Japanese confectionery usually served with tea. Some of the most common are made of mochi or stuffed with sweet red bean paste.

Minamoto is a big outfit with locations in 11 cities and 7 countries. There's a Minamoto Kitchoan in Torrance's Mitsuwa Marketplace. Now one is coming to Newport Beach's Fashion Island.

If you're wondering why the next Minamoto Kitchoan will open in Fashion Island and not in Costa Mesa's own Mitsuwa Marketplace, it's because that Mitsuwa already has a wagashi shop called J.sweets.
