JACKshrimp Returns To Newport Beach as CampusJacks

Fans of Jack Jasper's California-style Cajun restaurant JACKshrimp know that it closed this summer on Mariner's Mile. It was the end of a long run for JACKshrimp, which has been around in some form for 25 years in Newport Beach.

Now it looks like Jasper has resurrected it again in Newport Beach, this time closer to lunch crowds on Campus Road near the 73 and under a slightly new name: CampusJack's (or is it Campus JAX?). It replaces the shuttered Hogue Barmichaels.

The menu doesn't seem to have changed much, with a plate of JACKshrimp–wild-caught gulf shrimp in Jack's spicy savory sauce served with C'est Si Bon French bread–in half or full order.

Jasper is also offering Happy Hour with food such as crispy fried pickles and Cajun gulf shrimp tacos priced between $5-$7, and $1 off draft beers and a $4 house-made sangria
