Halloween Happenings At OC Restaurants


Not looking forward to the impenetrable traffic jumble and the lines at Knott's Scary Farm? Not keen on getting your kid strung out on HFCS? Here's a round-up of Halloween happenings from a few OC restaurants that are doing something special this week and beyoooooond! Cue spooky music here. Oooooooo!

Anaheim White House
The inaugural “Eat Drink and Be Scary” Halloween bash will benefit Caterina's Club, a nonprofit that helps feed OC's “motel kids.” It begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails (including something called a witches brew) and a silent auction. This is followed by a live auction and costume awards at 5:45 p.m. Dinner and entertainment commences at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $65.

AnQi Bistro
AnQi Bistro and Aston Martin of Newport Beach will host their “An Eerie Evening of Glamour and Ghouls” on Saturday, October 30 at AnQi from 8:30 p.m.-12 a.m. The “best dressed” will be selected to strut on AnQi's 60-foot runway for a prize. “Pumpkin Hour” will start the festivities with a DJ. Guests will be treated to endless tapas, “Aston Martini's”, and surprise “Tricks N' Treats”. Tickets are available for $65 per person.

Back Bay Bistro
For its inaugural Monster Mash party, there will be music, dancing and a
costume contest on Saturday, October 30 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka will be sponsoring the
event and fueling the drinks. Admission tickets are $5; food and
beverages, extra. A special three-course Halloween dinner will be
offered Halloween weekend, October 30 and 31, for $25. For reservations

The Cellar
A purported real haunted restaurant, The Cellar in Fullerton is hosting zombies and a troupe from the Maverick Theater to bring on “frights and fun” throughout their Halloween four-course themed meal October 30 and 31. The evening begins with cocktails in the bar and with dinner following shortly thereafter. The cost for dinner is $59.95. For reservations call 714-525-5682.

Melting Pot
The fondue restaurant chain will host close-up magicians who will stroll from table to table on Wednesday, October 27th beginning at 5:00 p.m. There will also be raffles and prizes, including one that will “make a lucky diner's dinner bill mysteriously disappear”. The drawing for that evening's comp'd meal for two will happen at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.. Guests who come dressed in a “Halloween-style ensemble” will receive a free raffle ticket. Raffle tickets will also be given to patrons who purchase a “mysterious martini” for $7. There will be goodie bags for kids and prizes for “Best Adult Costume,” “Best Kid/Teen Costume,” “What-Are-You?” and “I-Can't-Believe-You-Wore-That-Costume-Out-In-Public Costume.”

Mozambique
Dubbed “Nightmare at Gaviota”, Mozambique's Halloween costume party happens Friday, October 29 from 7 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Admission is $10, and all door proceeds go to benefit the Surfrider Foundation. Guests first to show up get a free shot of Peligroso tequila.

Prego
Prego Ristorante's Masquerade Ball runs from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. on Saturday, October 30. Guests can choose from a variety of ticket packages and entertainment. Costumes are encouraged, but not enforced (non-costume attire should be cocktail or gala appropriate). The event is only for those 21 and older with valid photo ID required.
