Golden Road's Beers Now Available In Orange County

L.A.'s own Golden Road Brewing, one of the stars in our local craft-brew galaxy, was only sold in L.A. County until recently. You can't accuse them of slacking though, because the brewery only opened last December opened in October 2011; the on-site pub opened in December. It expands its retail reach this week into Orange County thanks to a deal with Anaheim's Straub Distributing, and will be sold at all OC Whole Foods Markets, as well as other specialist retailers.

Golden Road introduces itself to OC craft brew lovers at a launch event this Wednesday, February 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Haven Gastropub, which will have their taps primed with four of their beers: Golden Road Hefeweizen, Point the Way IPA, Get Up Offa That Brown (a limited-edition English-style brown ale), and Either Side of the Hill, a heavily hopped, limited-run pale ale.

Guests who arrive early will receive Golden Road glassware and a chance to chat with co-founder Meg Gill and Sales Director Bryant Goulding. Gill's time at Colorado's Oskar Blues Brewing, one of the early proponents of the canning revolution, no doubt influenced their decision to purchase a state-of-the-art canning line described by our sister blog Squid Ink. Each of their cans is filled with an “honest pint,” rather than than the standard 12 ounces.

The boys that own Haven Gastropub and taco asylum are big advocates of canned craft beers, offering an alloy-wrapped selection from Oskar Blues, 21st Amendment and Maui Brewing, to name but three. You can add Golden Road Brewing to Haven's ever-expanding list of canners, and meet the people behind it without the traffic-filled drive up the 5 freeway to the Atwater Village brewery.
