So after four epic opening round battles in the inaugural OC Weekly/Pop Trivia Quiz tournament, the grand finale is THIS SUNDAY at Golden Road Brewing in Anaheim at 6 p.m.! It's been a successful effort, with nerds from across Orange County gathering these past couple of weeks at Kelly's Korner Bar, Slater's 50/50 in HB, SanTana's Olde Ship and UCI's Anthill Pub to ruthlessly battle each other. The top three teams in each location advanced to Sunday's finals, but since there were some ties, there's gonna be more than 12 teams competing for glory against the ruthless questions of Pop Quiz Trivia maestros Dougie Craig and Niki Kollar.
Just a reminder of the spoils of victory for those of you who didn't read our cover story on OC's burgeoning quiz scene: 1st place will get $1,000 and most likely a huge novelty check. 2nd place earns $500 in cold, hard cash. And 3rd place? A set of steak knives I'm buying from IKEA today.
So fuck the presidential debate, and head on over to Golden Road Brewing. Pop Trivia Quiz isn't allowing any more teams to participate in the finale, but you can still hang out and drink Golden Road's fine suds while cheering or jeering your squad of choice. See you there!
