In the summer of 2013, Kerri Annick Cacciata participated in our On the Line series. Her big news: plans to start a farmers' market in Downtown Santa Ana. Today, the market she dreamed of is about to turn one.

To celebrate, she's teamed up with some local supporters for a benefit dinner. While it may be of no cost to visit the Thursday market (save for those parking meters), operating one takes time, resources and a certain amount of money. With your participation, the DTSA market can grow and continue to provide a backdrop for local outreach and events. So let's talk about this dinner.

Hosted by the gang at Little Sparrow, Kerri is joined by Richard Lu and recent OtL subject Michael Puglisi of Electric City Butcher to execute the evening's festivities. A four-course, prix-fixe affair, expect a meal made with a lotta love. If you arrive prior to your 6 or 8 p.m. reservation, be sure to stop by the bar for social hour.

Your first course will be a chilled broccoli soup, with citrus salad and Dungeness crab. Next up, a composed DTSA salad, created with selections from the day's market. The main event is a grilled center-cut rib-eye. This will be served alongside Tuscan kale and potato mille-feuille (Note: there will also be a vegetarian option available, with prior notice). For a finale, blood orange olive oil cake topped with candied nuts and fruit compote.

Diners interested in taking part in this benefit dinner can purchase tickets at this link. Be sure to specify your preferred seating time, and know the $85 price tag is money going right back into the local community.
