Dos Chinos to Open Brick-and-Mortar Location Next Month…in Los Angeles?!

Long ago, I made Hop Phan–the man behind the brilliant, hilarious Dos Chinos luxe lonchera–promise to let us know first when he finally settled into a brick-and-mortar location where he could hawk his Asian-Mexican fusion. I'm glad to report that Phan kept his word–and sad to report he's breaking our heart.

In a tweet to my personal account, Phan let us know that Dos Chinos the restaurant is scheduled to open in less than a month, attached to the historic Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. “Same menu with our specials on a regular basis,” Phan wrote. There are plans for the same, Dia de los Muertos-inspired psychedelic dreamscape that decorates the current Dos Chinos trucks to also decorate the restaurant.

But…it's in Los Angeles. Evil, smoggy Los Angeles? Don't you love OC anymore? DON'T LEAVE US!!!

“we haint leavin,” Phan shot back. “Just shootin our roots in LA earth.”

Okay…:-(

In all seriousness, we congratulate Phan on being the second OC luxe lonchera man (after Jason Quinn of the Lime Truck) to graduate into a restaurant and wish him the best of luck. Now, how about opening one on the corner of Harbor and Bolsa, where Little Saigon and SanTana meet? Right next to Pho Cali….
