Chef Rick Boufford of the Dearly Missed Black Sheep Bistro At Surfas This Saturday!

Do you recall Black Sheep Bistro? The Spanish, Italian and French-infused cuisine created by Diana and Rick Boufford was beloved by locals for over 20 years. Known for a proper paella, its Old Town Tustin spot was never the same. The joint is already under a second concept in less than three years.

If you've wondered what's happened to chef/sommelier Rick, here's what we know. Their website is a cooking club advertisement. There are videos, DVD cookbooks and online events to sign up for. He cooked up multiple sold-out appearances last year at Nieuport 17's Aviation pop-up dinners. And now, Boufford is making rounds on the chef demo circuit.

His “Seasoning Secrets of a European Kitchen” talk will feature discussion on the differences between domestic and international spice racks. Boufford will show attendees healthy and flavorful seasonings everyone can create. And afterwards, you can head home and put it to use on your farmers market bounty.

Chef Rick can be found at Surfas Costa Mesa's Test Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. See you there!
