Chapter One Typhoon Haiyan Fundraiser TONIGHT!

When it comes to donating to charity, we wonder about the best way to support a cause. Fortunately, there are people who make the decision easier for us. We were contacted by chef Jason Monelibano (Chicken Wang to the rest of you) over the weekend about an event being held at Chapter One: The Modern Local tonight. Hey, if we can dine somewhere nice and support what's going on in the Philippines, we just multi-tasked!

They've teamed up with Hylo Events to hold a relief night starting at 8 p.m. No cover charge and multiple DJs spinning mean the library will be louder than usual. SICK STAR and ROOTED have joined forces to craft a Philippine Relief tee, merging the golden yellow sun and stars insignia of the Filipino flag with their respective logos. With the purchase of a shirt, proceeds will go towards the relief fund. You'll also receive a free appetizer on your next visit to Chapter One. Beginning at 10 p.m., they'll start raffling for gift cards, food and cash prizes.

Jason's contribution to this evening's menu is his version of tinola, a Filipino, soup-based dish traditionally made with chicken and papaya. In addition, the monies raised from all bottled beers, bottled wine, and charcuterie purchases will be donated. Lastly, they will be collecting donations of all kinds: used clothing/blankets, medicine, canned goods and unopened packages of water are all welcome.

Tonight, it's not whether you decide to donate, but how.
