Cafe Calacas Grand Opening This Saturday!

As we reported early last month, Cafe Calacas–a Chicano-themed deli that mixes traditional lunchtime items for the office crowd with horchata and homegrown tomatoes–has spent the last couple of weeks open, but still tweaking. Their veggie sandwich, for instance, suffered from the inclusion of mushrooms that added nothing to the sandwich; horchata one day was too watery. But their take on a roast beef sandwich–spiced with a mustard sauce–was perfect, Dave loves the biónico, and I can't stop drinking their limonada. Plus? Every time I order something with chicken, owners Rudy and Jackie Cordova mention with sadness and glee that they're out of their daily order because they sold out.

Most of the kinks have been worked out, and Cafe Calacas is holding a grand opening TOMORROW.

Party starts at 6 p.m. and goes until 11. Details are here–see you there!
