Banana Split at Watson's Drug & Soda Fountain

Step into Watson's Drug & Soda Fountain in the Orange Circle and be transported right back into the 1950s. This red-and-white themed diner combines American comfort food with a working drug store; it's not often that you can enjoy a burger and shake, and then purchase a toothbrush on the way out.

Drop some change into the juke box to pick an oldies tune, slip into one of the vinyl booths or take a seat at the bar, and open the menu right to “Ice Cream Dreams” section. Hidden among the list of sundaes, pies and malts, you will come upon the banana split, which could easily satisfy a group of four.

First come the sauces–strawberry, pineapple and chocolate–lining the bottom of the dish. Next, the perfectly ripe bananas anchoring the sides; followed by scoops of strawberry, vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Covered with whipped cream, sprinkles, nuts, and three cherries, this banana split is monstrous.

The chocolate ice cream is rich and creamy, the strawberry ice cream actually contains chunks of fresh strawberries, and the vanilla is your standard vanilla except for the surprising pineapple sauce hiding below it. Eat the banana split as fast as you can, because before you know it, this former masterpiece turns into ice cream soup.
