A Duo Of Lobster Festivals Coming Soon

Seafood rules along our coastal cities, and the crusty lobster makes an appearance twice in upcoming months. So stock up on your cholesterol meds and mark your calendars for these two events.

First on the agenda is Lobsterfest at Newport Dunes on Saturday, August 10. On its fourth year, a portion of the proceeds go to Leadership for Tomorrow and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The lobsters will be flown in fresh that morning for their boiling party. $55 will get you an entire Maine lobster, grilled tri-tip, red potatoes, corn on the cob, rolls and dessert. But wait, there's more! Clams, crab claws and shrimp are also included in the cost. A no-host bar and valet parking will be available. For more information, visit www.lobsterfestatnewportbeach.com.

In our favorite bordering city, Long Beach will host The Original Lobster Festival over in Shoreline Village's Rainbow Lagoon. Admission starts at $13 (but does NOT include lobster), with a number of dining and add-on options available, depending on your appetite. We suppose after 17 years, they know what folks are willing to shell out money for. Those seeking entertainment of the athletic variety are in luck. DirectTV will have a sports tent airing college and NFL football games all weekend. Get a two dollar discount off admission and learn more at www.originallobsterfestival.com.
