Going through a sudden breakup? Long day in your gray cubicle today (which stripped you of your ability to perceive color)? Worst of all, did a Prius cut you off on the 405? If you're suffering through any of the world's usual mishaps (which might include these and then some), it might be a good time to find Dr. Phil's two recommended day-enhancing treatments: cheap booze and food. Here are ten places to get the treatment with the best bargain for it at that.

10. Memphis Cafe (Costa Mesa)

Memphis Cafe seems to understand the value of a good bargain because they've got a special for almost every day of the week. On Sundays, Bloody Marys and Mimosas are $3 - 4 a glass with the purchase of an entree and, if you happen to work in the service industry, you can get 50% a meal that day if you show them a pay stub or business card. Monday are $10 burger nights and Tuesdays are half-off meatloaf days. You can get 50% off bottles of wine with the purchase of dinner on Wednesdays and 50% off fried chicken on Thursdays (take that, KFC!)

Happy hour here is daily from 3 - 6:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

9. Hashigo Korean Kitchen (Costa Mesa)

At Hashigo Korean Kitchen, happy hour options are at a minimum--perfect for those who hate deciding on food. There's $8 tofu stew, $9 galbi bowl, $10 pitcher of beer--and that's it! Nice and simple. The galbi bowl seems to be the most popular of these, consisting of galbi, a salad, and two fried dumplings. If you like sweet flavors, try trading Heineken for a Hite lager here--the number one selling brew in Korea.

Happy hour at Hashigo is Sunday to Thursday from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

8. C4 Deli (SanTana)

With its art deco feel and fast-dining-style service, C4 Deli is good destination for casual snack breaks which are made even better with their happy hour. Draft beers and wines by the glass go for $2-$3 while mimosas and sangrias are $5. To keep your stomach from getting too funky from all the drinking, take advantage of their $4 pastrami and $1 off deal on empanadas (plus much more to choose from). When you're waiting for the person behind the bar to bring you your food, there'll be TVs and the married smell of cheese and bread to keep you relaxed.

Happy hour is from 3 - 6:30 p.m. everyday and 3 - 11 p.m. on Tuesdays.

With a majority of the plates here ranging from $8 - $15, The Corner's happy hour will surely split your bill in half (or double it--depending on how much you order). Rebel against any anti-carb sentiments in your subconscious by getting their bottomless chips and salsa for $3, fries for $4, and then their garlic pizza for $4 (see? the same price as a regular entree). Meat-lovers, go for their $2.50 meatball slider and $5 sriracha soaked wings. Drinks like their Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned and Rob Roy are $6-7.

Happy Hour here is from 3 - 7 p.m. everyday.

Tokyo Table is mostly worth going to during their happy hour--otherwise, their sushi plates add up real quick. Happy hour specials are different during the weekdays and weekends here where, on weekdays, sushi rolls from their regular menu are $3 off, snacks (bacon-wrapped asparagus....AHHH) are reduced, pitchers are $11, and cocktails are $2 off. Their weekend deal includes half-off sushi rolls from their regular menu. To qualify for happy hour prices, though, they require one drink minimum per person, so keep that in mind!

Happy hour here is from Monday through Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. - 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and 9:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Sunday nights.

Japanese barbecue can get expensive but thanks to happy hour, we don't have to sacrifice an extra $10 and a baby to enjoy a juicy slab of yaki-shabu. Gyu-Kaku offers several happy hour deals, starting with their regular $45 happy hour which includes an assortment of appetizers, meats (hello, bistro hangar steak miso...), and s'mores for dessert. The second is a $55 meat-lovers' course which replaces non-meat entree items in the $45 deal with meats. And finally, there's the $60 deal which simply has a longer list of meats and appetizers. Besides these discount packages, many of their a la carte items are reduced by a dollar.

Happy hour is available all day on Mondays, everyday for lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m., and dinner everyday from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 8:30 p.m.

Appropriately referred to as "good times" by Lola Gaspar, the restaurant's happy hour items are marked as low as $3--a good time indeed for those who like making the most of their dollar. Though their happy hour only lasts for an hour, their spit-roasted pork tacos, well drinks, and draft beer might be worth setting a phone reminder for.

1. 320 Main (Seal Beach)

OC Weekly Archives

320 Main has garnered a reputation for its creative cocktail concoction, using the building it exists in as a laboratory for creating the Starry Nights of booze a la Vincent van Gogh. But also deserving of attention is its generous happy hour, where cocktails (Gin Buck! Harvest Moon!) and wines are marked at a starting price of $5. For food, blistered shishitos, tater tots, sweet and sour brussels are $6 each and buffalo chicken and duck poutine $8 each.

Happy hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 4 - 6 p.m., all day on Sunday, and Tuesday through Thursday from 9 p.m. - close.
