If you have never been to the opera and are dying to see what it's really about, I would recommend seeing this one. Many years ago, I was offered a free ticket from my music appreciation teacher at CSUF to see it - this was an assignment and she was a flutist with the Pacific Symphony. The Magic Flute was my first opera and easily became my favorite.

So they finally coaxed me out of the ivory tower that is the Calendar Dept. and convinced me to blog. Okay, first thing's first. A moment of silence for Harvey Korman. Blazing Saddles is playing this Wednesday at the Regency South Coast Village. Go see it and be reminded of the man's brilliance.
My film pick of the weekend is definitely not Sex and the City. Haven't seen it, and, merciful God willing, I won't ever have to. Lest you assume my opinion is based on some kind of willful ignorance

Not to be outdone by the Newport Beach Restaurant Week that just passed and the Orange County Restaurant Week that is still to come, a few restauranteurs from SJC are holding a single event called "Taste of San Juan" tomorrow, Wednesday February 18th at the El Adobe Restaurant from 6 PM-9 PM.
This one's more of an old fashioned food festival, akin to the Taste of Newport Beach.
The admission's $20 and includes tastings.
