  • OC Weekly faves land Glass House gigs

Like any local fan, I'm always excited to see bands we've written about in the Weekly get some solid recognition elsewhere. Okay, so maybe Pomona is not too far elsewhere, but the April calendar at The Glass House has great OC/LB talent opening up for some Coachella caliber acts. The jazzy jam artists of Free Moral Agents, created by Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens, landed a prime opening gig for their New York buddies TV On the Radio on April 14, days before they take the stage in Indio. • Thee Makeout Party! Release New...Cassette

Anaheim's Thee Makeout Party! are clearly pretty fun and pretty wacky: they have a song about the Disneyland Jungle Cruise, for instance. (The fact that they produce exceptional pop-rock shouldn't be ignored, either, check out our review of Play Pretend.) So it's not surprising that their latest release, Seven New Songs, isn't being released online or as a CD: it's only available as a cassette, and only at their shows. Once the run of 250 tapes is up, that's it.

  • Burger Time Extra: Q&A with Burger Records

This week's cover story gave you a chance to get acquainted with the off-beat, lovable founders of Fullerton's newest music dispensary, Burger Records. We hope you're hungry (for vinyl and cassettes). In case you're a total slacker (which is fine, nothing wrong with that) and haven't checked out the story quite yet, please excuse yourself and click here. For the rest of you, we've complied scraps of our hours and hours of interviews (seriously, these guys couldn't get away from us) with the Bu

  • Saturday Night: Burger Records Opening Party

OK, surely by now you've read our cover story from last week's Weekly on Anaheim's Burger Records, the history of the label and their new store opening in Fullerton this past Saturday? Well, it opened as scheduled (never a sure-thing when it comes to opening up a retail operation), bringing out a healthy crowd and a good deal of rad used records along with their own vinyl and tape releases. Audacity played a reliably rowdy set, music was purchased, and a fun time was had by all. Here are some
