Better Than: Staying home with your cat and hitting the peace pipe.
My apologies to The Year Zero, whose set I missed due The Paper Planes getting a late start at The Puka Bar. I heard your performance was drenched in sonic goodness and that The Henry Clays are jealous of your harmonizing capabilities.
I arrived just as Long Beach's Forcefield ON were taking the stage. With a loyal local following and band members with resumes th
LAist has about 20 artists they say are "confirmed" for Coachella (coming up soon! April 17-19!), and many more that are "rumored"--and given that just about every act of note is "rumored" for Coachella at this point in the year, a classification that's about as meaningful as last night's Golden Globes (though any night when Tracy Morgan and Bruce Springsteen both get to give acceptance speeches is pretty awesome). Here's who they say are confirmed:
It's getting to the point where the idea of the Coachella lineup is actually more appealing than whatever the eventual Coachella lineup will be, even if the actual lineup is really impressive. What next? Thinking about bouncing around from Los Campesinos!/Hold Steady/M. Ward, to the best of my ability. Listening to Molotov now on the side stage. Never heard them before.
The ID check lines are LONG. You better really like drinking! (And dr
About to head out to take on another day. Whee! Beth Stirnaman is here in OC Weekly Central (Motel 6 in Palm Springs) uploading pics, so soon you'll have some stuff to look at instead of just these awesome plain text posts. Heard Mentality blogger Nate Jackson is here, too. Say hi, Nate! Before shoving off for Coachella: Part Deux, let's put Monday to bed with some thoughts:- Franz Ferdinand nailed it. Nice little one-hour set drawing on all three of their albums. "Do You Want To," "Take Me Out,"
Newport Beach's the Jakes have had all sorts of neat things happen to them so far in their relatively young career--opening up for Kings of Leon, getting on The Real World, airplay on KROQ's Locals Only, making the OC Music Awards "Best Live Band" finals--but they haven't been in a video game. Yet.
