When it comes to drawing OC's club crawling crowd, Anaheim must be doing something right these days. How else can you explain two of the county's hottest night clubs opening just minutes from each other in the land of Disney. First, we celebrated the arrival of Ember. A certain music festival and conference held annually in the sleepy hamburg of Austin, Texas announced their initial slate of performers this year, and there's not an Orange County or Long Beach band among them. We had several acts in last fall's CMJ Music Marathon, so this is kind of a bummer. Keep in mind, though, that they only announced a little under 140 bands (I counted!) today, and there are plenty more to come--South by Southwest usually hosts about 10 times that.As usual, it looks to be
I wanted to be the first person in the blogosphere to comment on what bands you should see at Coachella. So here goes.
The Aggrolites -- LA's best white boy reggae/soul/funk band. They wear cool clothes and know how to throw a dance party.
Thievery Corporation -- Maybe you know them, maybe you don't. The only time I went to Coachella (hello 2003), I saw these guys and they were great. Killer dance/groove stuff. Or maybe that was the weed talking.
Superchunk -- They're still around?
