  • Schou Mug Shot Hits LA Times

Yes, OC Weekly investigative reporter Nick Schou got his mug shot in today's Los Angeles Times. No, he wasn't participating again in a riot, peeking inside an undercover DEA 18-wheeler or even driving solo in the HOV lane. A year or so ago, Schou thought it'd be fun to perform his normal work duties, raise an infant son, pamper his beautiful wife, teach a journalism class at UCI and write a book. Sure, he looks like a zombie most days now and is often heard mumbling to himself, but he can poin

  • Separated at Birth: Msgr. John Urell and Sean Hannity

Thanks to Bob Squalonero for the initial observation. There IS a strange resemblance btw. Monsignor John Urell and Faux News Commentator Sean Hannity. The squint, the eyebrows - even the hair is parted the same way. I've got goosebumps. At least I hope those are goosebumps. Any thoughts? On the picture, not the bumps.

  • Hewitt's Hughpocrisy

Hugh Hewitt came out west from the Reagan White House to oversee construction of the Richard Nixon Library and, later, represent The Irvine Co. and other coastal developers in court as they sought to build whatever they desired on their land, “environmental extremism” like the Endangered Species Act (that Nixon demanded from Congress and signed in 1973) be damned. Hugh’s hobby in those days was writing local commentary that criticized the SoCal media for being too biased and left leaning.

  • Read Curt Pringle's Lips: He'll Take New Taxpayer Dollars

Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle has long been the golden boy among Orange County Republicans. He got elected to the party's Central Committee in 1986, and two years later became the GOP nominee for the Garden Grove area state Assembly seat. The party, under the leadership of then-Chairman Tom Fuentes, hired uniformed security goons to stand outside Latino-heavy polling places in Santa Ana and demand identification from the mostly Democratic voters while carrying signs in English and Spanish that

  • UC Irvine Seeks to Cut Through Healthcare Reform Bullshit

The AFL-CIO convention in Pittrburgh voted last night to endorse single-payer, universal healthcare for all Americans, and rU.S. Senator Max Baucus (D-Montana) just trotted out to reporters his bill to provide non-single-payer, non-universal healthcare for not-quite-all Americans. Coincidence?  With healthcare premiums expected to rise 94 percent by 2020, everyone agrees something must be done. Well, everyone except town-hall criers. And Fox News. And Republicans. The main stic
