Social Distortion lead singer and Orange County favorite son Mike Ness is playing six solo dates at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano in December. As you might expect, several of those dates are already sold out: Dec. 6, 9, 10 and 19. But the good news, for the non-math whizzes reading, is that means tickets are still up for grabs for two shows: Dec. 14 and 20. Tickets, and info on his various opening acts, are available through The Coach House.
It's a light week for show announcements, what with the holiday and all--but we do have Mike Ness at the Glass House on Dec. 21, following closely on the heels of his Dec. 6, 9, 10, 14, 19 and 20 shows at the Coach House (of which only the Dec. 14 date is not yet sold out). So much Mike Ness. So many houses. December's going to be a great month.Tickets are on sale now, and $30. Beyond that, we've got Robben Ford at the Coach House, and I think that's about it. Happy shopping! Yay consumerism!
Orange County punk/rockabilly legends Social Distortion are playing their first show in the area in some time (not counting Mike Ness solo shows; there's been plenty of those) on May 18 at the House of Blues in Anaheim. It's the "Rock to Recovery" event, benefiting "Jay Thomas and his battle with spinal cord injury." Also on the bill: the Vandals, the Black Tibetans and Japanese Motors. $40, on sale tomorrow (April 18) at 10 a.m.Speaking of Mike Ness, as we sort of were, he cameo'd last night at
Some of the biggest names in Orange County music--including Social Distortion (fronted by Mike Ness, pictured)--will be at the House of Blues in Anaheim tonight, playing the "Rock to Recovery" benefit for surfer Jay Thomas, who suffered a spinal cord injury earlier this spring.Social D will be joined by The Vandals, Japanese Motors and LA's the Black Tibetans. Tickets are $40, with all proceeds going to Thomas--and are, at this point, pretty limited, so jump on it if you're interested.
Mike Ness and company (also known as Social Distortion) are going on a nationwide tour that includes a Canadian stint. Wanna know where they ain't playing? Locally. The closest the band is getting to OC is a Sept. 18 date at the Ventura Theatre or Sept. 19 in Rancho Mirage.Click here for a list of where your friends and relatives will be seeing our hometown heroes.
The Psychedelic Furs, in concert Saturday at the House of Blues in Anaheim, have been together for more than 30 years (albeit with a nine year hiatus between 1991 and 2000), and produced seven studio albums. But let's face it, what they're still most known for is their 1981 song "Pretty in Pink," which inspired the title of the iconic 1986 John Hughes-penned, Molly Ringwald-starred movie of the same name (and featured a re-recorded version of the song on the soundtrack). And as it often goes
