Perhaps it's only logical that in a state which has a man still trading on his movie role as a killer cyborg from the future as governor, politics would grow closer to comic books. Or perhaps it isn't. Either way, it's California.
At last weekend's state GOP convention, the San Francisco Chronicle's Carla Marinucci spotted TV's ex-Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno.
And guess what? [Ferrigno] says he's thinking about going into politics one day, too. "I have a feeling I'm going to get dragged into
In recent weeks, smallish films deserving a second look have found a home in Huntington Beach. Actually, two homes if you count the Regency Charter Centre (formerly an Edwards), which has shown a penchant for holding on to some worthy flicks even as the huge summer blockbusters roll into town. For instance, though The Da Vinci Code and X-Men: The Last Stand are swallowing up seemingly every other screen in the county, when the titles change on Friday Charter Centre will still be holding onto the
First it was Killer Bees. Then AFRICANIZED killer bees. Then sharks. Then Fire Ants. Then West Nile-infused mosquitos. Then illegal aliens. Actually, you can insert illegal aliens in there a few more times previously. Then locusts. Then frogs falling from the sky. Then jetliners ramming into buildings. Then illegal aliens again. Then Mel Gibson. And now, they're coming to get you: BEDBUGS! Eeeeeekkkk!!!
The Inconvenient Truth is on its way to becoming the box-office champeen of documentaries (pound sand, Michael Moore!). Orders are already brisk for the DVDs that won't be out until November. However, because Truth starred Satan's spawn Al Gore, there's a good chance many holy rollers skipped it and headed into whatever anti-Semitic Mel Gibson "Christian" movie was playing at the time. One Missed Call is a big-budget remake of a Takashi Mi

ROMANCE AND CIGARETTES
It's been on the shelf for almost three years – lost in the shuffle when MGM was sold to Sony – but don't let that scare you.
It's a musical – but try not to let that scare you either. I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of musicals; like many a straight guy, I learned to appreciate the form primarily from Trey Parker. Comedies that are already inherent
Ladies and gents, believers and gentiles: Once again, it's time for the Jewlicious Fest in Long Beach, so mark Feb. 29 through March 2 on your calendars. If you haven't heard of Jewlicious, it's basically the Woodstock of Judaism, with three days of music, food and Kiddush Wine. A festival for the artist and the curious college student.
One highlight of the fest will be Brooklyn rapper Matisyahu, famous for his hit song "King without a crown," who will be speaking about spirituality. The event
