In the most awesome co-headlining tour since 2004's "The Independent Tour" with Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken, buzz-building Seattle-originated bands Low vs. Diamond (who were here last month opening up for Santogold) and Barcelona are currently on the road together.
Cool, right? What's cooler is that said tour is coming to Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa on Dec. 9. That's pretty soon! Tickets are $10, and on sale now right here. Opening up on this date is Orange County's The Shys.
Here's the video
It's a catastrophe of riches! (That's what my friend said once when attempting to say "an embarrassment of riches." I'm trying to make it catch on.)Lots of shows coming to the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa, including Ra Ra Riot (who produced one of Village Voice Media's top 10 indie rock albums of 2008, link forthcoming), Atlanta's ever-exciting Black Lips and Orange County's own Death by Stereo. Also: Nickel Eye, featuring Nikolai Fraiture of the Strokes. It's like all the Strokes have their own ba
Photo by Andrew YoussefOur photographer Andrew Youssef was a busy guy this weekend, shooting not one but three shows: The Submarines and Morning Benders (pictured) Friday night at Detroit Bar, Nickel Eye and Low vs. Diamond at the same venue on Saturday night, and Meshuggah and Cynic last night at the House of Blues, Anaheim. Please to enjoy his pics from the shows.Oh, and you might want to check out Doug Wallen's article on the Morning Benders on Ned Raggett's piece on Cynic.
Lots of cool shows coming up at Detroit Bar, including Echo Park's Iglu & Hartly (pictured)--already pop heroes in Britain, and now breaking through stateside on the strength of somewhat inexplicable modern rock radio hit "In This City." They're playing the Costa Mesa venue on a sure-to-be colorful March 26. $8, tickets on sale now.
Shows, shows, showy show show shows. So many concert announcements lately! And a bunch of neat stuff, like Camera Obscura (pictured), is coming to the Glass House in Pomona, making that long, lonely drive worthwhile.
Though it may not be STD or Swine Flu related, there is something inexplicably infectious about the music of Ben Lee, the cuddliest thing to come out of Australia since the Kawala Bear. Hopefully his Aussie charm and talented acoustic touch will give his new album The Rebirth of Venus (released today) a good shot at some staying power. Though he may be on his seventh album to date, we can't help reminiscing about his first break out on 2005's Awake is the New Sleep. You know, the album that hold

An eclectic assortment of bands offered a little bit of something for everybody as Santogold, Mates of State, Alice Smith and Low Vs. Diamond rolled into the House of Blues Anaheim for the "Goldrush" tour.
Low Vs. Diamond came out with a purpose by unveiling their anglophile leaning anthemic rock tunes. I was looking for a bottle of aspi
