In town - the third favorite Dem: Later this afternoon, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards will be at the Disneyland Hotel to speak at the Orange County Democratic Party's 13th annual Harry Truman Awards & Dinner. In a CNN poll released Tuesday, Edwards followed Clinton (51 percent) and Obama (21 percent) with 15 percent. In other Edwards news, his wife Elizabeth will appear on NBC's "Deal or No Deal" at 8 p.m. tonight.

LA vs. OC: The Southern California airport wars continue this morning in a Daily Breeze article detailing a Los Angeles official’s demand that Orange County residents pay for increasing the burden on LAX. “Share the burden or cough up the cash,” is how reporter Art Marroquin summarized the opinion of LA airport commissioner Walter Zifkin. So Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee won Iowa. As of 10:30 pm Eastern time and according to CNN projections, Obama picked up 38% of the Democratic vote while Clinton and Edwards each got about 29%. Meanwhile, Huckabee apparently cleaned up with 34% (although Hugh Hewitt's biographical buddy Mitt Romney managed to come in second with 25%).

Hugh Hewitt came out west from the Reagan White House to oversee construction of the Richard Nixon Library and, later, represent The Irvine Co. and other coastal developers in court as they sought to build whatever they desired on their land, “environmental extremism” like the Endangered Species Act (that Nixon demanded from Congress and signed in 1973) be damned. Hugh’s hobby in those days was writing local commentary that criticized the SoCal media for being too biased and left leaning.
