  • Hypocrites Unite!

As everyone surely now knows, The Drudge Report has solved the Mark Foley mystery. As you know, Republicans are all about taking responsibility for one's actions. As they demonstrate here, they are indeed taking responsibility--for having an innocent "prank" about pedophilia (nice sense of humor, guys) fall into the hands of evil Democrats (oxymoron?). We just just picture Bill and Hill and Monica, hunched over the computer, copying, pasting and sending Foley's prank out to the masses. XXXXX DRU

  • Rohrabacher, Baugh GOP Operative Charged in Another Man-Boy Sex Case

Jeffrey Ray Nielsen, a former Washington, D.C. aide to Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (pictured) and OC GOP boss Scott Baugh, was charged Thursday with 10 additional felonies in a second man-boy sex case, according to court records obtained by the Weekly. Nielsen already faces pedophile-related charges for allegedly having an intense sexual affair with a Westminster, CA high school freshman he met in a gay sex chat room. The new case involves a Virginia boy featured in a 2006 Weekly cover story

  • Friday's Headlines & Surprises: The Drake Two-Step

Dancing With the Fibber: UC Irvine Chancellor Michael V. Drake has inspired a new dance. We’re calling it the Drake Two-Step, and it goes like this: hire, lie, fire, lie, rehire, wiggle. For a story in today’s Times, Drake admits that he “bungled” the firing last week of Erwin Chemerinsky as dean of the university’s future law school, but he refused to answer a single question on the record about his blatantly inconsistent versions of events. Most noticeably, Drake still won’t expla

  • Tuesday's Headlines & Surprises: Dana's Selective Memory

Can Bishop Brown Utter The Truth? Frank Mickadeit has an excellent column this morning on yesterday’s press conference by women who have been victimized at least three times--that would be: molested, ignored and then harassed--by Catholic Church officials. There will be more festivities today. This time Bishop Tod Brown (pictured) is set for a court contempt hearing in Orange County and if he decides to hold a press conference, The Mick has a few questions: If your Covenant With the Faithful

  • Wednesday's Headlines. No Surprises: Carona Giuliani?

What do Mike Carona and Rudy Giuliani have in common? Ties to former cocaine smuggler Florida billionaire Hank Asher, reports ABC News: Asher, aka H.A. in the indictment, allegedly gave Carona's wife (and former Assistant Sheriff George Jaramillo's wife) a $15,000 diamond-studded gold Cartier watch. "Asher is not charged with any crime in the indictment. But his expensive gifts are clearly part of the corruption investigation," writes ABC's Richard Esposito. Giuliani and Asher have been partner

  • Wednesday's Headlines & Surprises: Another Carona Monster?

Did Carona Create Yet Another Monster? If I was indicted Sheriff Michael S. Carona, I might be getting tired of Jo Ann Galisky, Kool-Aid Queen. This acting sheriff bit has swelled her mullet. Six weeks after she became temporary head honcho, she's still telling everyone she can that Carona's absence "has had no impact" at the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Galisky (pictured busy at work) barked the line again yesterday, according to Peggy Lowe at the Register. Galisky's wrong again. At a m

  • Ex-Congressional Aide Sent to Slammer

Parents of 7th, 8th and 9th grade boys can relax a wee bit more this afternoon. Jeffrey Ray Nielsen--a onetime congressional aide to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) and a serial pedophile--is now in custody of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Superior Court Judge David Thompson sentenced the 37-year-old Nielsen, son of former Fountain Valley Mayor Ben Nielsen, to three years in an as-yet-to-be-named California prison. Singing & Dancing in Prison? At least twice a month, someone asks me: Where is Jeffrey Ray Nielsen, the Orange County conservative activist who worked for years as a Washington, D.C. aide to Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) and is now a convicted serial child molester?Answer: McFarland, California. Thanks to the fondness California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has for the private prison industry (which showers his campaigns with large contributions), Nielsen is serving his three-ye
