Writing at Counterpunch.org, the online version of Alexander Cockburn's political newsletter, Robert Boston compiles a list of the Top 10 Power Brokers of the Religious Right. Boston used "publicly available financial data and political prominence" to rank his collection of polyester Savonarolas (Savonaroli?) and multimedia Elmer Gantrys. And coming in at number 10 is local boy and longtime OC Weekly favorite, Reverend Lou Sheldon, founder of the Traditional Values Coalition.

The Beast, the alt paper that howls at the world from the wintry, chicken wing-splattered wasteland that is Buffalo, now has the 2006 version of its always entertaining 50 Most Loathsome People in America online. The list of the loathsome features those you might expect (Bush, James Dobson, Ryan Seacrest), some you might not (Jesus Christ), and you. Yes, you. Dear TIGfTA:
How goes the number crunching, amigo. Say, just wanted to drop you a line about something I read recently about you folks at the IRS coming down hard on the former Rector George F. To plug the event, Shirley appeared on the Hour of Power this past Sunday for an interview with Crystal Cathedral head pastor Robert H. Schuller. The wacko-Christian blogosphere is incensed at Dobson for daring to praise Schuller—the man who re
Perhaps for not going so hard on Barack Obama in last summer's Saddleback presidential forum, the Lake Forest mega-church's pastor, Rick Warren (right), will deliver the invocation at the president-elect's swearing-in ceremony Jan. 20, reports CNN. Warren did not make a public endorsement in the race, but his past views (and forum questions) were certainly slanted more toward John McCain. And Warren did publicly support California's Proposition 8, commenting in Saddleback's October newslet
Gustavo's pal Howard F. Ahmanson Jr. just missed the top spot on the Dishonor Roll published online by Californians Against Hate. The Knights of Columbus of New Haven, Conn., gave $1.425 million to the campaign for the same-sex-marriage-barring Prop. 8, while Howie only ponied up $1.395 million.Hey, it was a tough year.Other Orange County haters of note include former state Sen. Rob Hurtt, who owns Container Supply Co. in Garden Grove and gave $550,000, just edging out repellant James Dobson's F
