  • Last Night: What Made Milwaukee Famous @ The Glass House

What Made Milwaukee Famous, Ra Ra Riot, The Little Ones @ The Glass House on 5/16 Usually, walking into a venue to find it almost empty is a bit of a downer. I guess most people train themselves to believe that a concert is not worth going to unless it’s in a room full of people sweating all over them as they text their friends about what a great time they’re having. But last night at the Glass House, I got an opportunity to watch a handful of bands that might not be packing the house in Po

  • I Can Dance If I Want To

Sup. I'm Albert, and I'm the new music editor of OC Weekly. I'm pretty tickled to be here - I'm coming from the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona, which means I'm sadly giving up some radical shows like this weekend's Festival in the Desert. (Pat Benatar and Boz Scaggs on the same stage on the same day? Dreams really do come true.) So if you ever need any music editor-y type things, feel free to e-mail me at aching@ocweekly.com. But what I really want to do is dance, dance, dance. Over in the Val

  • Some Names Are Better Than Others

There's no denying it: Bands have a huge boner for naming themselves after Smiths songs. Tonight, LA's Sweet and Tender Hooligans are playing at the Grove of Anaheim (opening up the second of Tiger Army's five night stand). They get their name, natch, from "Sweet and Tender Hooligan," but it's not just their moniker they got from Morrissey, Marr and Co. - they're a Smiths cover band, and their lead singer makes an admirable attempt at an unenviable task; replicating Moz's distinct vocal style.

  • Outgoing: OK Go at the House of Blues Rescheduled to April

Tomorrow's OK Go show at the House of Blues in Anaheim? Totally canceled! Well, rescheduled, actually. According to a note on OK Go's official Web site, lead singer Damian Kulash has fallen ill, and "his doctor has ordered him not to sing for the next 48 hours." The new date is April 10. You'd hope that maybe the HOB would go ahead with a show with opening acts Jaguar Love and IO Echo, but, nope. Seeing as how tonight's San Diego OK Go show was also scrapped, they probably didn't make the trip.

  • TONIGHT: OK Go (Rescheduled!), The New Limb and More at the Light Gallery

Here it goes again, indeed. OK Go are in town tonight, playing their rescheduled House of Blues Anaheim date. Last month's show was scrapped due to lead singer Damian Kulash's health, but he's apparently got got got gotten over it (teehee!). Previously scheduled opening acts IO Echo and Jaguar Love will be there as well. It's like, totally March 2009-retro!Also going on around town tonight: a neat show at the Light Gallery in Costa Mesa, headlined by one of our local faves, CM's The New Limb (th
