The sudden cancellation of the White Stripes tour led me to believe it would be awhile until Jack White (Vocals/Guitars) would resurface. I was shocked when a new Raconteurs album "Consolers of The Lonely" landed on the shelves just a few weeks after it was completed in March. The Raconteurs stopped by the Greek Theatre for
Back in 1996, it seemed like a pretty good bit that, post-"The Distance," Cake would wind up as a one-hit wonder. Yet the Sacramento band became one of the most reliable commodities in modern rock, which resulted in a ton of slightly amusing novelty hits: "Never There." "Sheep Go To Heaven." "Short Skirt/Long Jacket." "Love You Madly." An instrumental version of "Short Skirt/Long Jacket" is even the theme song to NBC's (which was just renewed, a rare victory for fans of nerdy network TV shows).
Oh, the simple joys of rocking out in a garage band. Most aspiring musicians can reminisce about the countless days spent hashing out future rock classics not yet born, sweating out their angst between a dusty tool bench, crappy Christmas ornaments and a broken lawn mower.
