    Orange County's going to be home to a restaurant by an Iron Chef. No, not Batali. No, not Morimoto either. It's Cat Cora -- the lone female Iron Chef. But first, let me clarify that the planned restaurant -- called CCQ for Cat Cora's 'Que -- is actually going to be paired up with Nancy Silverton's La Brea Bakery and a burger bar by Marcus Samuelsson.   • Cooking With Dog

    An uninterested pooch. An affable narrator. And a Japanese mom-type doing the cooking. These are the simple components that make up one of my favorite cooking shows, called "Cooking with Dog". You won't find it on the Food Network or even PBS. It's only on YouTube. The shows started last year, and cover the gamut of Japanese dishes, from sukiyaki to its current episode where they make sanma takikomi gohan.   • Garden Grove's Korean District In New Cooking Show on KOCE

    Before The Food Network came along , there was Martin Yan, Jacques Pepin, Tommy Tang, Jeff Smith (a.k.a. The Frugal Gourmet) and of course, Julia Child.  As a kid, I watched their shows every Saturday morning on PBS's KCET 28 when other kids watched cartoons.  I'd stare with rapt amusement at how Martin Yan's cleavers seem to move at a blur; how Julia Child turned raw ingredients into meals like it was magic. None of today's Food Network "stars" are fit to carry their sauce pans*.
