  • TONIGHT: Ninth OC Music Awards Showcase, Now at Gypsy Lounge

    Tonight sees the penultimate OC Music Awards showcase, with the shows moving to the Gypsy Lounge in Lake Forest for two free, 21 shows (today and next Tues., natch). Opening things up at 8:30 are Honeypie, who I wrote about this past week in Locals Only. Also on the bill are Barrett Johnson, Avenue of the Giants and The Union Line, pictured. We'll probably have some Twitter posts throughout the night (Tweets, if you will). Set times after the jump.

  • Slideshow: OC Music Awards Showcase Night Nine at the Gypsy Lounge

    Last night's OC Music Awards showcase at the Gypsy Lounge boasted a fun, rootsy lineup of Honeypie--in their first show together, ever!--the eclectic Avenue of the Giants, Barrett Johnson (who got the crowd there on his side in a big way) and the impressive Union Line, pictured. It was a solid night all around, but if you couldn't make it out there, help is on the way in the form of these keen pictures by our guy Robert Fayatte.

  • Lineup for 4th of July Show at eVocal Takes Shape

    We've been following the story of eVocal's untimely closing all this week, and now we have some more information on what looks to be the Costa Mesa all-ages venue's second-to-last show. Dubbed "Freedom Fest," festivities are planned to go for a full 12 hours--from noon to midnight--with back-to-back local acts playing inside, and acoustic artists playing short sets in between while bands set up.
