Out of all the pop-culture doctors over the past 40 years—Dr. Joyce Brothers, Dr. Ruth, Dr. Phil—none have been as controversial as Dr. Laura Schlessinger. At first listen, the outspoken former feminist sounds somewhat reasonable, especially when she’s whacking a sad-sack whiner across the chops for living with a child molester.
