Chapman University's Dodge School of Film and Media Arts in Orange seems to get all the collegiate filmmaker publicity love, but students are making interesting movies over at UC Irvine as well. Need proof? Attend Zotfest Saturday afternoon.
“UCI's only student-run festival” is zotted, er, trotted out for the 16th consecutive year beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Humanities Instructional Building's Room 100 (a.k.a. HIB 100). It's free and open to the public!
“Zotfest showcases the talent of UC Irvine filmmakers, and provides an opportunity to connect with peers, faculty, alumni, and invited guests through a shared passion for film,” say organizers.
“This is the 16th annual festival. We have established a successful network of filmmakers, bringing recognition to an unrepresented university. Zotfest strives to not only celebrate the accomplishments of our peers, but also expose their talents to the rest of the film industry.”
Rolling will be 13 student films, ranging from documentaries and dramas to comedies and thrillers. Industry professionals will join UCI Department of Film and Media Studies faculty members in judging the submissions. A red carpet awards ceremony will be followed by a reception with catering and entertainment.
