Who Strangled Michael Giordano?

Perhaps you remember that case from earlier this month when a body was found in a Garden Grove channel, and the coroner released a photo of the deceased's jeans in hopes someone could identify him. We know his name now: Michael Giordano.

But authorities need help finding the 46-year-old's killer.

Dead Man's Jeans May Help Identify Him, Coroner and Garden Grove Police Hope

Giordano's decomposed body was found around 9:30 a.m. Dec. 1 wedged between a concrete support pier of the Yorkshire Avenue and Mac Duff Street vehicular crossing over the Anaheim Barber water channel.

Due to the condition of the body, authorities could not identify him. That prompted the sheriff's coroner division to release a photo of the distinctive back pocket design of the lady Lei jeans the dead man was wearing. He also wore black Vans sneakers (size 9) and was further described as white, 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds.

Now, Lt. Ben Stauffer, the Garden Grove Police spokesman, has a cause of death: strangulation. It is believed Giordano died about a week before his body was discovered. He was known to frequent motels along Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim and Garden Grove. He was sentenced to two years in prison in 2013 for violating his parole on a drug charge.

Anyone with information about Giordano–and especially about how he met his end–is asked to contact Garden Grove Police Detective Maciel at 714.741.5824.
