Townsend Gang Injunction in Santa Ana is Subject of a Court Hearing Wednesday
Update: Orange County Superior Court Judge Franz Miller signed a preliminary injunction against the Townsend Gang but ordered authorities not to enforce it against 14 of the 24 people named in the document. Miller, who is still weighing challenges to involvement in the gang by the 14 individuals, scheduled an Oct. 22 trial-setting conference.

Update: Orange County Superior Court Judge James Stotler recently rejected a defense motion to dismiss the grand jury indictment that led to the murder case against Lonnie Loren Kocontes. Stotler still must decide whether Orange County prosecutors have jurisdiction in the case that accuses Kocontes of strangling his ex-wife on a cruise ship and hurling her body overboard into Italian waters.

Officers Jose Flores, Ryan Reyes, Brian Perez Win $3.5 mil Discrimination Suit Against WPD
Update: U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter on Monday rejected a motion by the City of Westminster, its police chief and three former police chiefs for a new trial in the discrimination case brought by three Latino police officers. From his courtroom in Santa Ana, Carter also finalized the jury's $3 million damage award for officers Jose Flores, Ryan Reyes and Brian Perez, who still work for the department (awkward …). An attorney for the city says if more post-trial motions fail, an appeal will be considered.
