If
convicted of those charges, Herrera could get up to 52 years to life in state
prison. A $2 million bail
request will be made at his arraignment today, according to the OCDA.

Living in the rented home at 4251 Trix Circle in Yorba Linda, Herrera some time the night of Oct. 25 stabbed his 53-year-old mother to death and left her body on the kitchen floor and did the same to his 34-year-old brother left in the hallway, the OCDA alleges.

Herrera then fled the home and stayed overnight at a friend's home. Around 11:30 p.m., Brea police, who patrol Yorba Linda under contract with the city, received a tip that led them to the Trix Circle home. There they found the bodies of the victims.

The suspect was driving away from the friend's home when he was arrested after a traffic stop around 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to authorities.

The OCDA says the investigation is ongoing, and anyone with additional information is
encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Randy
Litwin
at 714.347.8492 or Brea Police Detective Phil Rodriguez at 714.990.7677.
