[UPDATED with Decorative Cause:] Bomb Squad Called to Anaheim Church


UPDATE, DEC. 28, 10:27 A.M.: The cause for alarm that prompted the Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad to swoop down on Faith Lutheran Church in Anaheim this morning has been revealed:

A box of Christmas tinsel.

Don't laugh: anyone who's picked the shiny lace out of shag carpeting knows it's a destructive device.

ORIGINAL POST, DEC. 28, 9:49 A.M.: The Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad was reportedly called
to Faith Lutheran Church in Anaheim this morning to investigate a
mysterious device found there.

The Orange County Register reports a stretch of Orange Avenue in both directions from the Brookhurst Street intersection have been closed.

The call came in around 8 a.m., but no evacuations were ordered as the church appears to be empty for the holidays, the Register's Doug Irving reports.
