Police received a call of shots fired just before 2:30 p.m. from a residence in the 2100 block of East Banyan Street. Emergency personnel found Nicole Gutierrez suffering from gunshot wounds and pronounced her dead at the scene.
"Initial investigation indicated Gutierrez's boyfriend, Samuel Oscar Montes, had been at the scene at the time of the shooting but fled prior to the arrival of emergency personnel," reads a statement from Anaheim Police Sgt. Montes, 20, was booked at the Anaheim Police Department Detention Facility for murder with a bail of $1 million, according to the statement.
Court records indicate Montes is to be arraigned Tuesday.
