UPDATED: Man I.D.'d; 25-Year-Old Man Dies After Falling from UC Irvine Building

UPDATE JUNE 11, 10:40 A.M.: The man has been identified by the coroner's office. Check page 2 for more information.

A 25-year-old man died Tuesday evening after jumping off of a building at UC Irvine. He was unaffiliated with the campus, according to UC Irvine Spokesperson Cathy Lawhon.

According to early reports, the man jumped at approximately 4:15 p.m in the Social Science Plaza. Responders attempted to resuscitate the man but were unsuccessful. No ambulance was called.

Counseling Center staff, administrators, and faculty were on the scene to provide counseling and grief services nearly immediately.

According to the Orange County Coroner, the 25-year-old man who died after jumping from a building at UC Irvine Tuesday afternoon is Santa Ana resident Maxwell Chorak. Court records showed Chorak had a history of mental illness and at one point was under conservatorship, according to the Orange County Register
