Thanks for Clearing the Air

You were the two teenaged smokers leaning against the car parked next to mine. As I exited the Ralphs on Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton a few weeks ago, I spied you from the door and thought, “Great. Two youths who don't give a damn about other people are smoking and just staring into my car. This'll be fun!” To my surprise, as soon as you saw me coming toward my car, with my 15-month-old daughter in a cart loaded with groceries, you both booked it to a curb some yards away. I thanked you and unloaded my goods in peace. I do not consider myself prejudiced, but obviously, I had judged you guys on sight. Thank you for automatically being cool people and for teaching me to give others the benefit of the doubt, as well as restoring my faith that manners aren't dead.
