Suzy Favor Hamilton, Olympic Runner Barred as Disneyland Marathon Promoter Due to Her Paid-Escort Services, is Deep-Sixed by Big Ten

Remember Suzy Favor Hamilton, the three-time U.S. Olympic runner who when she wasn't in Anaheim promoting Disney's Princess Half Marathon last August was selling her body as a high-priced escort nearby? Big Ten officials remember her, not because they … ahem … partook in the 44-year-old's side business but because they just stripped her name from a coveted award.

Favor Hamilton had earned her john … erm … John Hancock on the annual award for the Big Ten's top female athlete for being named the league's top lady competitor of the year three consecutive years between 1988 and 1990 out of Wisconsin before going on to compete at the Olympics in 1992, 1996 and 2000.

But following much discussion Tuesday, the university and the Big Ten decided to remove Favor Hamilton's name from the trophy that this year went to Minnesota hockey player Amanda Kessel.

The Smoking Gun first learned about the the secret life of the track athlete, fitness promoter and motivational speaker from one of the clients of her alter ego, “Kelly Lundy.” Favor Hamilton confirmed her Full GFE-giving for the site when confronted in a hotel lobby last December.

The revelation prompted Disneyland to cancel Favor Hamilton's planned 2013 appearance at the charity half marathon. But The Mouse was not the only one who required some 'splainin' from Suzy. By then she had revealed her lady of the night-ness to her husband (and father of their child).

Favor Hamilton explained she wasn't doing it for the money–although she was a top earner for her elite service, which charged $600 for an hour to $6,000 for 24 hours with Kelly–but as a “coping mechanism” for mental health issues she was experiencing.

Her outing prompted this tweet in December: “I do not expect people to understand, but the reasons for doing this made sense to me at the time and were very much related to depression. As crazy as I know it seems, I never thought I would be exposed, therefore never hurting anybody.”

Big Ten trophy engravers now feel her pain.
