Shaun Bradley Paquette, Shot by Deputy, Arrested for Assault, Battery, Other Counts

ORIGINAL POST, JUNE 30, 9:55 A.M.: A “disturbance” call at a Ladera Ranch condominium complex Sunday night ended with a man being shot by an Orange County sheriff's deputy.

The man was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, where his condition is unknown.

The deputy was not injured in the shooting that happened just before 10:30 p.m. at the Covenant Hills Sansovino condos in the 100 block of Sansovino, according to Lt. Jeff Hallock, the sheriff's spokesman.

Neighbors told a news videographer who arrived at the scene that they heard a couple arguing in the unit before deputies arrived.

After deputies arrived, they reported hearing someone shouting, “Put the gun down! Put the gun down!” followed by the sound of three gun shots.

The shooting is under investigation, Hallock told City News Service.

UPDATE, JUNE 30, 6:34 P.M.: The man who was shot Sunday night has been identified as Shaun Bradley Paquette, 29, of Ladera Ranch.

Paquette left the hospital for jail, after his arrest on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, battery against a spouse and child endangerment charges. He was booked into Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The Orange County District Attorney's office is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
