Santa Ana's Bristol Street Easter Cruise Over?

As a former cruise passenger on E Street in San Bernardino–because I didn't have a car and there was absolutely nothing else to do in San Berdoo–I find it disturbing that no one's invited me to the Bristol Street cruises in Santa Ana each Easter night.

Indeed, I knew nothing of this local tradition until reading El Jefe's post about it last year … after the fact:

It's Easter Weekend, Which Means Santa Ana's Bristol Street Becomes Ground Zero for Lowrider Cruising

Now comes an advisory from the Santa Ana Police Department informing the citizenry that they'll be cracking down on the Easter cruise. Great, now I'll never be able to take part. And right after I got my Ford Ranger up to hopping an amazing half an inch off the ground.

“This unsanctioned activity produces public safety concerns, numerous calls for service and gridlock,” explain the cops in justifying lane and road closures beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday. Traffic on Bristol between First Street and Warner Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction, as will Main Street between First and Anahurst Place. Edinger Avenue will be completely closed between Bristol and Main.

The lane and road closures will continue through 3 a.m. Monday.

Bah humbug!
