Santa Ana Police Seek Black BMW and Driver in Hit-and-Run of Young Teen

Santa Ana cops are looking for a black BMW 300 Series sedan sold manufactured between 2001-2006, not because they are in the market for a used car but investigators believe it was driven by a hit-and-run driver who left a boy in his early teens clinging to life Saturday.

The unidentified boy, who is around 14, was struck about 8:20 a.m. near Fifth and Fairview streets, according to a Santa Ana Police advisory that indicates he was found lying in the northbound lanes of Fairview adjacent to the east sidewalk, where he was treated by paramedics before being taken to a hospital.

Based on witness descriptions and evidence collected at the scene, collision investigators have zeroed in on a black 2001-2006 BMW 300 Series equipped with an M series sports package.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the car and its driver is asked to contact Santa Ana Police Investigator Bao at 714.245.8214. Anonymous tips may be left with Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855.847.6227 (855-TIP-OCCS), via occrimestoppers.org or by texting to 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S) from a cell phone.
