It'll be in the area of 500 W. First St., which if memory serves would put it around Ross Street, which is stumbling distance from one or seven downtown spots that have served me some mighty ice cold brewskis.
So consider yourself warned.
The department swears the goal is to deter impaired driving, not increase arrests. “The checkpoint will be staffed by officers trained in the detection of alcohol and drug impairment to provide on-the-spot assessments of drivers suspected of alcohol or drug impairment,” reads their release.
So, uh, consider yourself warned-er.
Funding comes from a grant by the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
