Robert Redford Narrates MacGillivray Freeman Films' 3D National Parks Adventure
Robert Redford bought a two-acre Utah plot in 1969 that has since expanded to the 5,000-acre Sundance resort and surrounding preserve.
National Parks Adventure, the next IMAX and giant screen nature documentary from MacGillivray Freeman Films, will be narrated by someone associated with conservation, Academy Award-winner Robert Redford.
"National Parks Adventure captures the stunning beauty of our wild places and reminds us these landscapes are an essential part of the human spirit," says Redford in a MacGillivray Freeman release.
"I can't think of a more perfect narrator for National Parks Adventure than Robert Redford, whose passion for the outdoors and environmental interests as well as his distinctive voice and charisma, makes him the ideal storyteller for our film," adds Greg MacGillivray, the film's director and company co-founder.
National Parks Adventure "takes audiences on the ultimate off-trail adventure into the nation's awe-inspiring great outdoors and untamed wilderness," according to producers.
"Told from the perspective of national parks ambassador and world-class mountaineer Conrad Anker, his stepson Max Lowe (an adventure photographer) and family friend Rachel Pohl, these modern-day explorers visit spectacularly wild and beautiful places--including Yellowstone, the Everglades, the Redwoods, and Arches--revealing a tapestry of natural wonders that will inspire the adventurer in all of us."
"There are 408 national parks in our country that many families have not been able to explore," MacGillivray notes. "Our hope is that National Parks Adventure will encourage our audiences to discover the beauty and sanctuary of these American treasures."
Audiences are scheduled to discover his 3D film in IMAX and giant screen theaters beginning Feb. 12, 2016, the global release date that will coincide with the centennial of the National Park Service.
MacGillivray Freeman Films is also producing America. The Beautiful, an eight-part series that is also narrated by Redford and will debut Sunday on the Travel Channel and encore in February 2016.
Meanwhile, 78-year-old Redford plays Dan Rather in the drama Rathergate arriving Oct. 16, and AMC just greenlit his docudrama The West that will blend dramatic scenes, documentary footage and visual effects to explore the world of cowboys, Indians, outlaws and law men from 1865-1890.
