After several girls told their parents the teacher had touched them inappropriately, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) launched an investigation, according to a spokesman. Pimentel retired as a fourth-grade teacher at George De La Torre Jr. Elementary School in Wilmington after the abuse probe began, according to police.

Retiring before his arrest preserved his pension and benefits, according to school district officials bound by state law.

The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact LAPD detectives at 213.486.0570.
