Robert Flores, OC Homicide No. 57: Succumbs to Injuries from 2006 Gang Shooting
Robert Flores, 20, of Santa Ana, has died of complications from injuries he suffered in a gang-related shooting in 2006.
Because he died this year, Santa Ana Police consider Flores' passing the 11th gang-related homicide of 2010.
Flores was a runaway who joined a tagging crew that was marking up a wall in the 2400 block of West Wilshire Avenue just after midnight in the spring of 2006, when his crew was confronted by gang members.
A gun was whipped out, and Flores was shot several times, leaving him a quadriplegic. He was just a month shy of his 16th birthday.
According to Santa Ana Police, Flores and his co-horts were uncooperative with investigators. The shooters were never identified.
Flores died Nov. 1 at a local hospital of unspecified injuries related to the shooting.
Now, if the shooters are found, they face murder charges, according to police, who say a $50,000 reward is available to anyone who provides information leading to an arrest through the Gang Homicide and Felony Assault Reward Program. Call SAPD at 714.245.8648 if you know anything.
