ORIGINAL POST, DEC. 26, 7:39 A.M.: Keep that crash in your mind as you pass through the checkpoints scheduled to run from 7 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday in Westminster and Santa Ana. There will also be saturation patrols–where special units blanket streets known for DUI arrests, crashes and fatalities, from 8 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday in Anaheim, La Habra and Orange.

Anaheim also has saturation patrols scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 p.m. through 3 a.m. each night. There will be saturation patrols between those same hours Wednesday only in Irvine, Placentia, Westminster and Brea.

The Anaheim Police Department has also warned DUI/drivers license checkpoints can go up any time through the end of the year. Fountain Valley cops and Orange County sheriff's deputies say they may hold spot saturation patrols through year's end.

Funding for these operations comes from California Office of Traffic Safety grants, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
